Thanks for your blogs on fishing there. Be settling around E. or S. Pattaya either this Fall or next, depening on the pesky work requirement, and have normally confined myself to the fishing parks. I share a similar background (although American) from a young life spent fishing in natural settings, and offshore, yet in the past decades of adult life, fishing has ebbed due to my sorted locations, but has never abandoned my soul. Thai fishing parks are a nice filler during my short visits over the past years, certainly not a long-term solution. I mustered my mate’s energy enough this past January, to drive me down to the Bali Hai pier and visited in with the boys in the shop there, but never got my feet wet. Next time perhaps. Otherwise, thanks and I appreciate and enjoy reading your missives. Regards, Jay.

    Hi Jay,

Thanks for the comment and for stopping by, glad you like it, and yes work can get in the way of a good days fishing all too often for my tastes ! 🙂

Bali Hai is a good place to set off from as there’s some really good fishing to be had in the (Gulf of Thailand.

Failing that there’s also a couple of freshwater fishing parks in and around Pattaya (see some here https://bangkokburt.wordpress.com/freshwater-fishing-spots-in-thailand/ )

I tend to prefer the natural settings like Srinakarin dam even though they can be tougher spots to fish, unless you have a local guide.
