Freshwater fishing spots in Thailand

Here’s a collection of GPS coordinates I have sourced from my own trips as well as some other fine sources including (link in blog roll) who provides his own insights into each lake over in his fishing section at his excellent blog.

There’s still a lot of information left to add to the map, its a work in progress so check back from time to time. Also I have no intention of making this private so if you want to collaborate with me on this project and add your own spots to this map please leave a comment or drop me an email.

Tight lines!

Hi Aznee, glad you found this useful. But sorry I don’t organise fishing trips, I just blog about my trips and share information. I recommend that you go to Siam Fishing’s website, as they have a whole page dedicated to fishing boats and captains. Use Google’s Chrome browser and get it automatically translated. It’s not perfect but it’s what I do.

Or you can try my pal Oz over at

Trust that helps, good luck and tight lines

    Dear Marcus

My name is Chris, I am from Switzerland. I’ve been fishing in and around BKK a couple of times during the past few years and will return with two mates beginning of March 2014. Ruan Pae Fishing Park aka Fishing World has always been one of my preferred spots.
Unfortunately, local guiding companies can not arrange trips to this lake anymore. I’ve been told, that the lake is now used for jetskiing and boating rather than fishing. I am trying to find out, if it is still possible to fish the lake. Do you know if fishing permits and rental boats are available at the floating restaurant?

    Many thanks in andvance

Hi Chris, Fishing World used to be my favourite spot too, but sadly the restaurant today is just a restaurant, they will still let you fish (I think), but my understanding is that they sold the fish stocks. Nobody at the restaurant was of any help when I last went there, so in fact I turned around and headed to Pilot 111.

    Thanks Marcus!

I think we’ll have to give it a go and fish from the bank until someone is telling us off.
The fat Pacus for sure still hang around in front of the Restaurant. Can’t imagine such a big lake beeing completely netted and all the fish sold.

Let me know how you get on, it’d be nice to hear if its still worth a trip

Thanks for the info, I’ll be in BKK in two weeks and plan to fly fish at Pilot 111 and other spots.
